The secret of this life

One day, God and a true believer were walking through a vast desert. The believer turned to God and said, “O God , what is the secret of this life and the appearance of this world?” (Why did you make this world?)

God smiled and did not reply. They continued walking. Allah finally said. “Oh child, the sun is very hot today, & I am thirsty. Ahead you will find a village. Go there and fetch me a cup of water.”

Arriving at the village, the believer approached the first house he saw & knocked on the door. A beautiful young woman answered him. The moment the he looked into her eyes he forgot God’s command, & the reason of his mission.

The lady took him into the house, where he was warmly welcomed by her family. They offered him food & insisted him to stay there for the night. He gladly accepted it. Enjoying the family’s warm hospitality, & secretly admiring the young lady, he completely forgot about God’s command.

After living there for a month, the he decided to stay on, and he soon began to participate in the household chores. After a few months, he proposed to get married to the young lady. The family wholeheartedly accepted the proposal and the marriage was successfully held.

He & his young wife settled down in her family’s house, where she soon gave birth to three children, two sons and a daughter.

Years passed on like this. When his wife’s parents died, he took over as head of the family. He opened a small shop in the village & in no time it even prospered. Before long he became an honored citizen of the community & a prominent member of the town council. Giving himself up to the age-old joys & sorrows of village life, he lives happily for many years.

Then one evening during the monsoon season a violent storm occurred, and the river rose so high from the sudden rains, that the village began to flood. He gathered his family & sent them all towards higher ground. But the winds blew so violently & the rainwater flowed down with such a force that one of his son was washed away. Slowly the storm washed away his full family leaving him helplessly alone. Looking at the sky, but his cries were drowned by a towering wave that rose from the depths of the terrible night and washed him headlong into the river.

All went black. Many days passed like this. Slowly and painfully he came to his senses, only to discover that he had been washed onto a sand bank, far down the river. It was daytime now, & the storm had passed, but there was no sign of his family anywhere, nor any living creature.

For a long time he stay lying on the sand almost mad with sorrow. Bits of wreckage float past him in the river. The smell of death was on the wind. Everything had been taken from him now and all things life-giving and precious had disappeared into the swirling waters. There was little to do, it seemed, but weep.

Then suddenly, he heard a voice behind him that made the blood in his veins stop. “Child,” the voice asked, “where is my cup of water?”

He turned and saw God standing at his side. The river vanished, & once again he and God are alone in the empty desert.

“Where is my water?” God asked again. “I have been waiting for you to bring it now for several minutes.” The believer threw himself at God ‘s feet & begged for forgiveness. “I forgot!” he cries again and again. “I forgot what you asked of me, Oh God ! Forgive me!”

God smiled & said, “Now do you understand the secret behind your life, & the appearance of this world!” “I didn’t make this world, but you lost yourself in the world while your way to heaven.”

Think twice before we judge others

One night there was a woman at the airport who had to wait for several hours before catching her next flight. While she waited she bought a book and a pack of biscuits to spend the time. She looked for a place to sit and wait.

She was deep into her book, when suddenly she realized that there was a young man sitting next to her who was stretching his hand and, with no concern whatsoever, started grabbing the pack of cookies lying between them. He started to eat them one by one.

Not wanting to make a fuss about it, she decided to ignore him. The woman, slightly bothered, ate the cookies and watched the clock, while the young and shameless thief of biscuits was also finishing them. The woman started to get really angry at this point and thought “If I wasn’t such a good and educated person, I would have given this daring man a black eye by now. “Every time she ate a biscuit, he had one too.

The dialogue between their eyes continued and when only one biscuit was left, she wondered what was he going to do. Softly and with a nervous smile, the young man grabbed the last biscuit and broke it in two. He offered one half to the woman while he ate the other half. Briskly she took the biscuit and thought, “What an insolent man! How uneducated! He didn’t even thank me!” She had never met anybody so fresh and sighed relieved to hear her flight announced.

She grabbed her bags and went towards the boarding gate refusing to look back to where that insolent thief was seated. After boarding the plane and nicely seated, she looked for her book which was nearly finished by now.

While looking into her bag she was totally surprised to find her pack of biscuits safely intact. If my biscuits are here, she thought feeling terrible, those others were his and he tried to share them with me. Too late to apologize to the young man, she realized with pain, that it was she who had been insolent, uneducated and a thief, and not him.

How many times in our lives, had we known with certainty that something happened in a certain way, only to discover later that it wasn’t true? How many times has our lack of trust within us made us judge other people unfairly with our conceited ideas, often far away from reality. That is why we have to think twice before we judge others. Let’s always give others the benefit of the doubt before we think badly of them.

Unless and until, one realizes about the fact, no one will change his or
her view of thinking in spite of lot of external factors.

Every Point has THREE Sides; Your Side, My Side and The Right Side.

To understand either the Other’s Side or the Right Side, one needs to leave His Side…….. ..

Fail Your Way to the Top

Have you had a challenging day or week? Feel a little tired or discouraged with a current situation?

Don’t worry. It’s very normal to go through times of feeling that something in life stinks and all there is to see and feel is the current mess.

Here is something neat to ponder during those times, though. When doing battle with discouraged feelings, take a look at this report and reflect on this man’s record of failure.

It is a testament to how humans can learn and grow and win despite the losses and defeats.

Who was he?

He was a simple, uneducated, country boy who refused to allow his uncongenial circumstances stop him. He refused to be a victim. He refused to accept failure. He refused to listen to people who told him he was crazy. He refused to stay down when he felt like nothing was going his way.

Simply put, he picked himself up no matter what and kept on going after his dream.

He educated himself and did whatever it took to keep moving in the direction of his passions.

He was? Abraham Lincoln.

If you reflect back on your life, you can find patterns of the times you grew the most.

Many of those times were probably a result of some kind of previous ‘failure,’ maybe even a series of them.

Remember: children don’t fail when they are learning to walk. They fall down over and over again. It is the falling that teaches them and strengthens them.

Each failure is a learning experience. And the faster people pick themselves up, reflect on the past occurrence and go again, the faster they can achieve their goals and dreams.

So with this in mind, choose the one thing that may not be going exactly as you wish right now and do one thing to move you closer to achieving the result you want. And remember, life is about learning and growing.
